Waxflower (Jamesia americana)
Waxflower is a deciduous shrub with heavy-textured, green foliage that turns to shades of bright orange and pink in the fall. Bark is red-brown and flaking. In late spring (May and June) there are clusters of showy, fragrant white, waxy flowers. This shrub grows 3-6 feet in height and 4-6 feet in width. Tolerates dry soil as long as it is well drained. Will do well in full sun to partial shade. Hardy to zone 3 and up to 10,000 feet. A Plant Select choice for 2003.
