Moonlight Broom (Cytisus 'Moonlight')

moonlight broom (Cytisus 'Moonlight') (16451 bytes) Moonlight Broom (Cytisus 'Moonlight') is a legume shrub, often used in dry areas where other shrubs may have trouble succeeding. It grows to a height of 6 feet with an equal spread. Hardy to zone 5, it prefers full sun and well-drained soil and has low water needs. It tolerates a wide pH range and is drought tolerant.

moonlight broom flowers (7203 bytes) moonlight broom flowers (5496 bytes) Flowers bloom on old wood in late March to early June and are a pale, creamy yellow in color. Fragrant.
moonlight broom stems and seedpod (6827 bytes) Seeds are contained in legume-like pods.
broom stems in winter (6028 bytes) Stems remain green in winter, giving this plant an interesting year-round appeal.
